The RAW Goat Milk Cleanse, A Physical and Mental Purification Ritual
A forgotten ancestral practice returns to holistically detoxify us, while providing marvelous healing for a myriad of health concerns
It is scientifically proven that 93% or more of illnesses derive from lifestyle, not genetics. What exactly does this mean for us, and how can certain foods, such as goat milk, hold the key to true and sustainable wellness and freedom from medical codependence?
Let's start by going way back… for centuries, we have been living in a well curated "victim/perpetrator" paradigm from the systems in power, which means we must always blame something or someone for anything remotely wrong, including our genetics so we can now blame the past. Unfortunately, as sheep or cattle do, we follow this paradigm without questioning the motives behind it. And despite this happening everyday, right before our eyes, we continuously pick the temporary comfort of being absolved of responsibility and willingly give up all individual autonomy, freedom, and conviction in exchange for a little “ease”. Simply put, we have become so darn lazy in so many ways (sorry, not sorry)! As long as we are disengaged, numb and/or slaved as a society to any power outside us, we will never fully realize our ability to heal, to live and to thrive (I speak in great detail about how this cleanse among other natural treatments helped me heal Lyme here.)
To believe in the extraordinary healing power within each of us, we need to first realize that it is all already there; it's simply untapped but undoubtedly ready to be unleashed if we're willing to get messy, challenged, and uncomfortable!
In Western societies, our current "health" system isn't broken at all; it works quite perfectly actually at perpetuating the "victim" narrative:
The patient feels unwell → must visit an "expert" aka an MD, to tell them what is wrong → he/she might be sent for labs/testing to "find" the issue → he/she will likely receive a synthetic prescription that will hopefully make the symptoms of the issue disappear (at least temporarily but not without side effects!) → Repeat the above as symptoms return or show up in a different form… and this cycle continues on and on and on.
So what does all of this have to do with the milk cleanse? Returning to the fascinating finding of the effect of lifestyle vs. genetics, not only are parasites, inflammation, tumors, infertility, diabetes, heart disease, hormonal unbalances, depression, etc, most all very preventable but indisputably, in many cases, also reversible. We can absolutely heal ourselves by changing our diet and lifestyle as long as we are ready to make some radical changes… and we can all personally feel how the moment we allow stress to take over our system, we start feeling unwell. I firmly believe the root cause of dis-ease in our body is a lack of coherence between mind and body. When we are in full coherence, living our truth in gratitude, our body and mind will thrive.
This cleanse isn't just a change in habits for 8 or 10 days but an opportunity to realize the great power within us to heal. Since fasts or cleanses aren't purely physical… this can become a mental/spiritual initiation at transforming the way we think and react.
"You will never have a greater or lesser dominion than that over yourself...the height of a human's success is gauged directly by their self-mastery and the depth of their failure by their self-abandonment. ... And this law is the expression of eternal justice." -Da Vinci
Let's talk about Milk: Milk is the first and best nutrition we receive as humans, and goat milk, in particular, is also really beneficial for us (there are other types of milk just as good such as camel or bison, for this process, for example). In several traditions, including Ayurveda (ancestral natural medicine from India), goat milk has been used to remove parasites from children and adults for centuries. Some would even bathe in goat milk for extended periods for the parasite or the worms to exit the body because bacteria and worms are insanely attracted to milk. This is why a milk cleanse will help us purge toxins after consecutive days of milk consumption.
The Basics: The goat milk cleanse I was advised to do is quite simple: it consists of at least eight days, preferably ten, of ONLY consuming goat milk (you can do longer if you feel up for it). This milk is so rich in nutrients that you actually don't feel extremely hungry or weak. You are allowed to consume as much milk as you'd like, and it is recommended you pair it with herbs and tinctures to aid in the removal of toxins and harmful bacteria from your body as you complete this cleanse. I will list the recommended herbs/tinctures below. Also, you can consume as much water as you'd like. I was able to work out and continue my regular activities with no problem (except that you will likely have loose stools most of the time, so beware and be somewhat near the toilet).
Which herbs should I pair it with? There is a particular company called LabElymental that made it very easy; they packaged some of the recommended herbs and delivered them right to you with instructions, here is their Co link, and you'll also be able to find lots of helpful info and FAQ on their site. Unfortunately, LabElymental isn't producing more products at the moment (you can get added to their waitlist though). But of course, you are still very much able to complete this cleanse on your own; you will just have to create your own herbal protocol and order your own herbs/tinctures listed below. I encourage you to check out their site for added info on the process, but I will add additional resources and Youtube videos below for your review.
There are many different parasites cleanses that you can take along with the milk. I have taken SCRAM (anti-parasitic herbs in pill form) and 3x daily droppers of Semento & Banderol tinctures along with the milk and had great results. I am very accustomed to consuming herbs and have done lots of reading and testing of which herbs work well with my body. So as with anything, you should start with small doses and slowly increase them as your body begins tolerating this bomb of new natural meds in your belly. You can easily create your own herbal cleanse and pair it with the milk. Countless herbs are good for detox and the killing of parasites, lots of info online depending on what symptoms are driving you to do this. Some of the most common detox herbs are:
Cayenne, Cranberry, Slippery Elm Bark, Wormwood Herb, Cat's Claw, Cloves, Black Walnut.
Always buy organic herbs from a reputable source and slowly introduce them to your body to see the reaction it generates. You also do not need to "mix & match" all of the above. I would research a few and try out a few. Remember that herbal healing is very potent with small doses; we are used to "the more the merrier," but this is all based on extreme consumerism. Also, depending on our cycle (women), our current sensitivity, or even our emotional susceptibility, a simple drop of a plant essence can be just as strong as the entire bottle in a different phase of life. So thread lightly, lovingly, and with profound trust and honor to these plant allies for helping us heal
What type of milk? One of the most essential parts of the cleanse is this: Whichever milk you choose, it should ideally be RAW, which means unpasteurized. I believe this isn't recommended in many states, so I must advise you to check your local regulations *sigh*. But as mentioned above, goat is ideal, but other types, such as camel or bison, work as well.
What does it taste like? Personally, I love the taste of raw milk; pasteurized milk is less rich and bland in flavor because it's no longer full of the live organisms that can transform our gut. Processed milk (and any processed protein, for that matter) is also depleted of all good probiotics and nutrition and filled with hormones, antibiotics, preservatives, artificial coloring, and other toxins making it more harmful than beneficial. So prepare for the strong flavor of raw milk, and you can always add nutmeg or cinnamon if you prefer.
Where to Source the milk? Find local farms at your local farmers market that supply raw goat milk (if you are in Austin, I will happily recommend some). Or go online!
How do you feel? Just like with any lifestyle change, it's uncomfortable initially. But starting on day 5, it felt like the floodgates of LIFE and energy reopened for me. And it makes sense, as it takes about five days for these petty bacteria (same with H Pylori btw) to start releasing from our stomach lining and flushed out. That is why it's very important you don't give up or cut it short unless of course, you don't do well on fasts. By day 10, I felt like myself again! And it was such a noticeable improvement that I decided to go back to food for three weeks before repeating it to ensure I had cleansed anything and everything that did not belong.
So that’s the gist of it folks! Simple enough yeah? And I will repeat this to close: Cleanses and fasts are NOT just purely physical; they shouldn’t be. For centuries, these have been used as initiations of all kinds in different cultures to transcend and breakthrough mental limitations as individuals while also benefiting the physical body…
“Discipline is not always enjoyable at the moment, but it is always profitable in the long run.”
I am happy to share that after my second Goat Milk Cleanse (as I shared in great lengths on this post,) in addition to other natural protocols, I tested negative for Lyme in all of its forms, including antibodies. Soon after (way sooner than I thought!), my husband and I conceived our baby easily and have had a really wonderful pregnancy.
I pray you take daily doses of the magical gratitude pill, and even find ways to make friends and be thankful for whatever symptom or unbalance is inviting you to do this deeper work; may you remember the healer within and find daily ways to self-master, self-regulate and self-heal.
With infinite love,
Gabriela
